This custom-built interactive LED system was designed for musician and performer Ona Tzar, offering a visually dynamic extension of live performance. The system consists of seven circuit bent high-brightness LED units, controlled via a Teensy microcontroller, enabling responsive, real-time light interaction.

 

Fully MIDI-integrated, the LEDs can be triggered, modulated, and sequenced directly from any MIDI-compatible device or DAW, allowing performers to merge sound and light into a unified experience. The system is highly adaptable, operating in both wireless and wired configurations, with the option for portable, battery-powered use—ideal for stage performances, installations, or roaming acts.

 

Built with a D.I.Y. ethos, the design emphasizes flexibility, compactness, and creative autonomy, enabling artists to customize behaviors, colors, and effects to suit different performance contexts. This project merges technological precision with artistic expression, turning light into an active performer within Ona Tzar’s sonic universe.
